Fancy a private stargazing experience with very limited light pollution? Our stargazing site is 4 mins drive from the village centre with nearly zero light pollution.
What we offer
We will bring you to our stargazing location where there is nearly zero light pollution. Your professional astronomy guide will take you on an astronomy journey, from ancient stories of constellations to science facts, from Greek mythology to Maori legends. You will also see a variety of deep sky objects through our powerful 9.25-inch computerised telescope. You will also be offered a photography service, your guide will take some photos of you and you family or friends with the stars.

eVscope 2 and 9.25” Telescope
Private access to our powerful smart telescope eVscope 2. It delivers the most stunning visual experience ever seen in a consumer market with state of the art observing comfort, and an incredible amount of details, definition and zoom ability.
And our 9.25” telescope is a decent optical telescope which is the same size as the one Stephen Hawking had at his home.
Astronomy guide
You will have a professional astronomy guide to operate the telescope and show you the solar system and deep sky objects.
Photography
We can take family or individual photos for you beneath the beautiful dark starry sky. The photos will be edited and sent to you.
Out door furniture and blankets
We set up outdoor furniture, pillows, mattresses and blankets for you to enjoy the night sky comfortably.
Hot chocolates
Lake Tekapo has low temperatures at night , hot chocolates will keep you warm.
Fire bowl and marshmallows
At the end of the tour, we will light the fire bowl, you can roast marshmallows with your friends and family.
Where is our stargazing location?
Our stargazing location is a four-minute drive from Lake Tekapo village centre, next to the Tekapo River. It is a perfect spot for stargazing where zero light pollution can be found. With our comfortable outdoor furniture and system heating, you would be able to immerse yourself in the astronomy journey.

We aim to provide a tailor-made experience. You can leave a note in your booking or contact us by telephone or email if you have any special requests. Custom options include the ones below but are not limited.
START TIME
You can choose any start time (from sunset to 2am). You will need to make an email inquiry.
DURATION
The price is set for 90 minutes, you can extend it by paying an extra fee. Please inquiry by email.
LANGUAGE
You can choose from the following languages for your experience: English, Mandarin
PHOTOS
Unlimited photographs of you and your family under the stars. We will edit the photos and send to you by email.
