Shared tour
This is our classic experience. During this tour, you will share a 90 min astronomy experience with other night sky enthusiasts (up to 12 people), your professional astronomy guide will give you an explanation of the night sky and show you deep sky objects through our powerful 9.25-inch telescope.
What we offer
We will escort you to our stargazing location where there is nearly zero light pollution. Your professional astronomy guide will take you on an astronomy journey, from ancient stories of constellations to science facts, from Greek mythology to Maori legends. You will also see a variety of deep sky objects through our powerful 9.25-inch computerised telescope. We provide a photography service, your guide will take individual photos for you with the stars.

eVscope 2 and 9.25” Telescope
Private access to our powerful smart telescope eVscope 2. It delivers the most stunning visual experience ever seen in a consumer market with state of the art observing comfort, and an incredible amount of details, definition and zoom ability.
And our 9.25” telescope is a decent optical telescope which is the same size as the one Stephen Hawking had at his home.
Astronomy guide
Our professional astronomy guide will operate the telescope and show you the solar system and deep sky objects.
Photography
We can take family or individual photos for you beneath the beautiful dark starry sky. The photos will be edited and sent to you.
Outdoor furniture and blankets
Outdoor furniture, pillows, mattresses and blankets will be set up for you to enjoy the night sky comfortably.
Hot chocolate (Vegan available)
Lake Tekapo has low temperatures at night, hot chocolate can keep you warm during the 90 min tour.
Fire bowl and marshmallows
At the end of the tour, we will light the fire bowl, you can roast marshmallows with your friends and family.
Where is our stargazing site?
Our stargazing location is a four-minute drive or 30-minnute walking from Lake Tekapo. We don’t provide transportation service, you will need to come to our site by your car or on foot.
It is a perfect spot for stargazing where zero light pollution can be found. With our comfortable outdoor furniture and system heating, you will be able to immerse yourself in the astronomy journey.
