What we offer
We will bring you to our stargazing location where there is nearly zero light pollution. Your professional astronomy guide will take you on an astronomy journey, from ancient stories of constellations to scientific facts, from Greek mythology to Māori legends. You will feast upon a variety of deep sky objects through our advance telescopes. You will also be offered a photography service, your guide will take photos of you and your companions with the stars.
Your astronomy guide will teach you everything you’d like to know about the telescope and reconnect with the night sky full of stars.
eVscope 2 and 9.25” Telescope
Exclusive usage of our powerful smart telescope eVscope 2. It delivers a stunning visual experience and an incredible amount of details, definition and zoom ability.
Our 9.25” optical telescope zooms in on the details of the night sky – and is the same size as the telescope Stephen Hawking had at his home!
Astronomy guide
Our professional astronomy guide will show you how to navigate and track time with the stars. The guide will show you constellations and share the stories behind them.
They will operate the telescopes and show you the most beautiful deep sky objects the night sky has to offer.
Photography
Each booking will receive a portrait photo taken professionally by the guides beneath the beautiful starry sky.
Each photo will be edited and emailed to you after your tour.
Out door furniture and blankets
We set up outdoor furniture, pillows, mattresses and blankets for you to enjoy the night sky comfortably.
Hot chocolates
Lake Tekapo has low temperatures at night , hot chocolates will keep you warm.
Fire bowl and marshmallows
At the end of the tour, we will light the fire bowl, you can roast marshmallows with your friends and family.
Where is our stargazing location?
Our stargazing location is a four-minute drive from Lake Tekapo village centre, next to the Tekapo River. It is a perfect spot for stargazing where zero light pollution can be found. With our comfortable outdoor furnitures, you would be able to immerse yourself in the astronomy journey.

DURATION
Default tour time is for 90 minutes, if you wish for extended time (extra fees applicable), please reach out.
LANGUAGE
The guides are proficient in the following languages, you may choose from;
English, Mandarin, Spanish, Catalan, Cantonese
PHOTOS
Unlimited starlight photographs of you and your companions. The processed photos will be sent to you by email eventually.

cancellation policy
If you changed your travel plan, you will get a full refund by giving us a 7 days cancellation policy.
Babies and little kids
Free of charge for kids under 5 years old.
Bad weather
We will refund the price if it is rainy or mostly cloudy, any refund will be at Chameleon Stargazing’s discretion.
